About Hot Lips

Fun to watch bees get into the flowers.

There’s a Greek myth about this flower’s genus name, Chelone. A nymph named Chelone replied to an invitation to the wedding of Zeus and Hera by saying she’d rather stay home. She was turned into a turtle (“khelônê” in Greek) so that she’d have to carry her house on her back forever.
