About Pride of Wisconsin
90–100 days. Large four- to eight-pound oblong fruit with sweet, old-fashioned muskmelon flavor. Hard shell, which is coarsely netted and ribbed, makes this a good keeper. Introduced in 1937 for Milwaukee markets, it nearly disappeared in the 1960s with the onset of hybridization. Now available thanks to a small number of seed savers. Open-pollinated. Resistant to downy mildew.
