About Black Pepper Vine

The source of the ubiquitous spice of the same name. A tropical vine with broad, shiny leaves and long drooping clusters of small white flowers. Fruits turn from green to red. Under ideal conditions it can grow up to 30’ tall.

Black pepper is produced from the unripe green fruits, while pink, red, white, and green peppercorns are produced from different stages of ripeness and using different methods.

About Pepper Vine, Black

Makes a good container plant to over-winter indoors, since it stops growing when temperatures drop below 65°F and is killed by frost. Loves heat and humidity. Takes two–four years to produce flowers and set fruit (peppercorns).
