About Moerheim Beauty

Dark copper-red 2–3" flowers with swept-back, notched petals like a badminton birdie, and a prominent central dome of chocolate encircled with yellow. Blooms for about two months in late summer and fall, with the color finally aging to a rusty gold.

Won’t need staking and makes a great cut flower. The former holder of the National Collection of Helenium in Great Britain picked it as one of his five favorites: “It has been around since the 1930s but it is still up there with the best. Lovely the way the petals hang back and the red is a good red.” Given the Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society in 2001.

About Helen's Flower

Late-season color on numerous daisy flowers with turned-back petals. One of the easiest of all perennials. Nicknamed "sneezeweed" because the dried leaves were once used to make snuff, not because it aggravates allergies. Rabbit- and deer-resistant. See also the native Helen's Flower.
