You may have heard that Highway 280 is closed for this spring and summer's construction season.

Map showing Highway 280 is closed and which streets are open, which gates to the Fair make sense to use

For the plant sale, the closure primarily affects people driving from Minneapolis and areas to the west of the Fairgrounds. Shoppers driving from the north, east, and south/southeast should be able to take their usual routes.

From North and Northeast Minneapolis, there are a couple of options:

  • Drivers can take I-35W to Highway 36/Cleveland Avenue south to the Commonwealth entrance to the Fairgrounds.

    OR
  • They can take East Hennepin, which becomes Larpenteur Avenue, to Cleveland Avenue to the Commonwealth entrance.
  • To reach the Hoyt Gate for most direct access to the accessible parking lot, take Larpenteur east to Snelling Avenue, then go south to the Hoyt Gate.

From South Minneapolis, areas near Downtown, or the western suburbs, take I-94 or city streets to Snelling Avenue north to any of the entrances on the east side of the Fairgrounds — Underwood on Como, the main gate on Snelling, Hoyt, or Underwood off of Larpenteur.
