It's time for the Sunday discount sale!

All remaining plants are 1/3 OFF tomorrow, Sunday, May 10. The sale is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand. Wristbands will be distributed starting at 9 a.m.

"Check Hide sold outs & crop failures" text is encircled

We had a very busy first two days of the sale (thank you!), but there is good news. You will still find a wide selection of plants and many fantastic finds.

You can tell if a plant is sold out already in the Find Plants section of our website. (Don't miss the feature, just below the list of Plant Traits, that lets you hide the sold out plants and only see the ones that were still available as of inventory time when a few people were still shopping.)

Most sections have quite a bit left, except Native Perennials, Bulbs & Bareroots, and Fruit.

Here's what you might find on Sunday:

Annuals

There is more available in the Annuals section than most years, especially in zinnias, salvia and coleus. Oh — and lisianthus!!! There are lisianthus in every color. We also have multiple flats of Brazilian Verbena — it's very unusual for that to be still here on Sunday. You'll also find alyssum, moss roses, petunias and million bells, snapdragons, wishbone flower, and impatiens. And polka dot plants.

We also have quite a few hibiscus, gardenia and elephant ears in the Outdoor/Indoor area near A001.

Vegetables

Who wants tomatoes? We have lots! We had a late delivery of mixed hybrid tomatoes, so there are lots of those left. You will also find peppers, potatoes, eggplant, kale, kohlrabi and lettuce. For more veggies, look for okra, cabbage, beets and asparagus. Explore the climbing spinach!

Herbs

Lots of lovely smelling lavenders, parsley, sage (including a new variegated variety!) Or, your tastes might turn to oregano, mint and basil. (We usually don't have basil left!)

Unusual & Rare Plants

There are a number of good plants left, including hellebores, woody peonies, desert roses, and ZZ Plants.

Perennials

There are some great choices here. You'll find lady's mantle, coneflower, hens and chicks, foxglove, coral bells and bee balm. Also: bugleweed, solomon's seal and stonecrop! There are plants that will combine nicely to create a shade garden or work as a ground cover.

There is a great selection for you hosta lovers, both minis and giants.  We've also got a good choice of peonies.

Bulbs & Bareroots (within Perennials)

Bulbs & Bareroots are pretty picked over, but there are some left.

Climbers

The headline here is the amazing selection of clematis. Lots of varieties and good numbers of each are available.

Miniatures & Succulents

Good selection here! Come check out these colorful cuties! We have succulents, adorable little ground covers and more.

Shrubs, Trees & Roses

This section has some great finds left. There are lots of bush honeysuckle in a couple of varieties, mock orange, lilacs, juniper and redbud. Also winterberry, snowberry and some grow-low sumac.

Fruit

Fruits are in short supply, unless you're looking for peach trees, strawberries and a few blueberries. Otherwise, not much left.

Native Perennials & Grasses

There are fewer plants in Natives than last year, but you can still find a great choice of cardinal flower, Helen's flower, goldenrod, and marsh marigolds. In Grasses, there is a wide range of sedges and native grasses, plus some of the ornamentals.

See you tomorrow!

Is it worth coming to the plant sale on Sunday? Yes! Even compared to last year when we had good selection, we have a wide variety of plants still available. Come find the plants that might just be perfect for your garden.

We hope to see you on Sunday. It's going to be a beautiful day for plants!
