Large, tropical-looking leaves and purple blossoms give way to fruit that has given this tree its other common name: poor man's banana. Yellow-green fruits up to the size of a mango are soft when ripe, and mature from mid-August to October. Sweet, custard-like flavor. Excellent source of vitamins and minerals. Requires two trees for fruit production. Let us know how yours do.
