This tree says “Hello, Spring” by covering its branches with clusters of small yellow flowers. Leaves follow, and then bright red cherries midsummer. Sour fruit can be eaten fresh, like a blend of sour cherry and cranberry, but it’s best used in jams and sauces.

Multi-stemmed tree related to dogwoods. Tolerates heavy clay soil. Not self-fruitful, so plant at least two trees. The fruit ripens after it falls from the tree.
