About P. rockii

Uncommon woody peony with flowers up to 10" wide, white with a red flare, not the usual purple flare. These are seedlings from Klehm’s Song Sparrow Nursery grown by Harvey Buchite. Roy Klehm got the seeds from a gardener in England. They are generally uniform in flower color, shape, and foliage type.

Rock’s peony was introduced to the West in 1920 by self-taught botanist Joseph Rock. These hybrids of Rock’s peony have fragrant 7–10” flowers with dark flares around the center. Prune woody peonies only to remove dieback.
