About German Pink
85 days. Brought to the U.S. from Bavaria in 1883 by the great-grandfather of Diane Ott Whealy, co-founder of Seed Savers Exchange. One of the first two tomato varieties in their Iowa seed bank. Two-pound beefsteaks are nearly seedless with a rich, sweet flavor. Great all-purpose tomato. Potato-leaved.
About Tomato, Heirloom
These varieties have been cultivated around the world for decades or centuries. Heirloom tomatoes tend to be indeterminate (vining, ripening over time) and generally require support unless noted as determinate (bushier, ripening all at one time—good for canning and freezing). All are open-pollinated, meaning you can save seed from year to year. See also Tomato, Other.
